Khatun Jan Begom, wife of the Qara Qoyunlu ruler Jahanshah, was the patron, and the mosque was completed in October 1465 as part of the Mozaffariyya complex. Work continued after Uzun Hasan took Tabriz in 1468, and the mausoleum's cupola and main structure were completed from 1478 to 1490, though the article also says the mausoleum was never finished. Sources call the style Timurid, and the infobox also lists Ottoman.

The dome chamber facing the qibla had dark-blue hexagonal tiles with stenciled gilding, as well as seven-color tiles, mosaic panels and muqarnas at the entrance. An earthquake in 1780 left only the iwan, and the ruins were looted in the 19th century.

Reconstruction began in 1973 under Reza Memaran Benam and was incomplete as of March 2025. Restorers used new bricks matched to old ones and rebuilt the double-shell dome without raising its height. The article gives no dimensions or visiting details.
