Carlos Zapata designed the tower, with a shape inspired by a lotus flower, and AREP was architect of record. The article calls the style neo-futurism. Bitexco Group developed it, and Hyundai Engineering and Construction built it. Construction began in June 2007, and the tower opened on October 31, 2010.
The roof is 861 feet (262.5 m) high, with 68 floors above ground. The Saigon Skydeck on Level 49 sits at 584 feet (178 m). A helipad shaped like a lotus bud cantilevers about 72 feet (22 m) from the 52nd floor. It uses more than 250 tons of structural steel, and the article calls it Vietnam's first non-rooftop helipad.
About 6,000 individually cut glass panels clad the facade, because each floor is unique. The article gives three basements in the body and two in the parking description. Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower surpassed it in January 2011, while the infobox names Landmark 72.
