Sultan Abdulaziz commissioned the palace on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus, in the Beylerbeyi neighborhood of Üsküdar. The infobox lists Hagop and Sarkis Balyan as architects, while the text credits Sarkis alone. Construction began in 1861 and finished by 1865. The infobox gives Ottoman and Second Empire styles, and the text describes Neo-Baroque European influence combined with traditional Ottoman interior decoration.
The palace has three stories including a basement, with 24 rooms and 6 halls. Two bathing pavilions, one for the harem and one for the selamlık, are visible from the water. The interiors have Egyptian straw mats, Hereke carpets, French Baccarat crystal chandeliers, and porcelain vases from China, Japan, France and Germany.
Today it is a museum open to the public. The article gives no opening hours, prices, dimensions or exact completion date, and it does not mention marble pavilions.
