The Basilica of Saint Nicholas stands on Prins Hendrikkade in Amsterdam, near Centraal Station. Adrianus Bleijs designed it, and it was built from 1884 to 1887. The article names no builder or client. It combines Neo-Baroque and Neo-Renaissance styles, with Neo-Baroque most prominent.
The plan is a three-aisled cross-basilica. Because of the urban site, the axis runs northwest to southeast instead of east to west. Two towers flank a rose window, and a statue of Saint Nicholas by Bart van Hove stands in the gable niche. A large octagonal tower over the crossing carries a Baroque dome and lantern.
A Sauer organ from 1889 sits above the main entrance. The church became a minor basilica in 2012, and a co-cathedral of the Haarlem-Amsterdam diocese on February 1, 2025.
