JPJ Architects designed the tower for the developer Bramalea Limited, a joint venture with Prudential and First National Bank of Dallas. Built from 1983 to 1985 at a cost of 146 million dollars, it was first called Dallas Main Center. The article calls the style late-modernist. The architectural height is 921 feet (280.7 m), with 72 stories in the text and 74 floors in the infobox.
The faceted facade uses blue glazing and grey marble accent bands. The original silver and gold design was changed, and the stepped pyramid crown was removed to gain FAA approval. Green argon lighting failed repeatedly and was replaced with LED tubes in 2013.
A second tower and hotel were never built after the mid-1980s Texas downturn. The infobox lists Dallas Main LP as owner, and the article says it was listed for sale in 2020.
