The article dates the mosque to about 1575, but also says it was probably built in the second half of the 17th century on the site of an older mesjid. It assumes Sultan Suleiman II as the endower without confirming it. No architect is named. The current name dates to the late 18th or early 19th century.

It is a one-story cubic building on a square plan, with an octagonal dome carried on arches and trompes. The walls are mainly stone with some brick, and a porch of three small domes leads in. A thin minaret with a conical roof stands on the northwest side. The courtyard has an ablution fountain.

Austria converted it to a Catholic church from 1717 to 1739. It was set on fire in 2004 and repaired. Serbia declared it a cultural monument of great value in 1979. The article gives no visiting details.
