The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community built the mosque at 181 London Road in Morden. Oxford studio Sutton Griffin produced the original designs. The land was bought on March 29, 1996, the foundation stone was laid on October 19, 1999, and the mosque opened on October 3, 2003.

The site covers 5.2 acres (2.1 hectares). The main mosque is 75 feet (23 m) high, and the upper and lower prayer halls each span 92 by 118 feet (28 by 36 m). There are two domes, the main one 59 feet (18 m) across in stainless steel, and two minarets, with polished marble tiles on the exterior.

Capacity is 6,000 in the prayer halls and 13,000 in total. The article gives the cost as 5.5 million pounds for the mosque in one place and 15 million for the complex in another. After a fire in 2015, the administrative block was rebuilt from 2018 to 2023, designed by John McAslan + Partners.
