Ardvreck Castle stands on Loch Assynt in Sutherland, Scotland. The MacLeods of Assynt built it about 1490, in the fifteenth century, to replace Assynt Castle. It was a simple rectangular stone keep with a round staircase tower at the south-east angle and about four floors. The ground floor had three vaulted compartments, and there were several gunports.

In 1650, after the Battle of Carbisdale, MacLeod handed the royalist James Graham, Marquess of Montrose, to Covenanter forces. The article gives two accounts: one says he acted out of loyalty to the Covenanters, the other that he betrayed Montrose for a reward of 25,000 pounds.

Clan Mackenzie attacked and captured it in 1672. The Mackenzies built nearby Calda House in 1726, and fire destroyed it in 1737. Both ruins are scheduled monuments.
