Atkins Middle East designed the tower and acted as structural engineer, for the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre, which was the client and owner. Taisei Corporation, with Arabian Construction, was the main contractor. Groundbreaking was on July 16, 2005. The infobox gives completion as November 15, 2008 and the opening as January 12, 2009, but the text says cladding at the top was installed later in 2008.

The article lists the style as Modernism. The spire reaches 1,180 feet (360 m), the roof 1,005 feet (306.4 m) and the top floor 916 feet (279.3 m). It has 68 floors, including five below ground, 35 elevators and 160,000 square meters of floor area. It stands on its own artificial island in the middle of the Jumeirah Lake Towers free zone.

The cost was 3.6 billion dirhams. The article says high security is installed because of the transactions there.
