The mayor of Konya, Turkey, commissioned the mosque, and the article names no architect. It was completed and opened on October 16, 2008. The infobox calls the style Late Classical Ottoman, and the text says it is modeled on Istanbul architecture. It stands in a 14-hectare park on the Sunzha River, on the site of the former Presidential Palace, which was destroyed in the First Chechen War.
The central dome is 52 feet (16 m) wide and 105 feet (32 m) high. Four minarets, each 203 feet (62 m), are based on those of the Sultan Ahmed Mosque in Istanbul. Over 10,000 worshippers fit inside, and the same number can pray in the adjacent summer gallery mosque.
The walls are marble and travertine, and 36 chandeliers include 27 modeled on the Dome of the Rock. The article gives no visiting rules.
