Acireale Cathedral, dedicated to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, stands on Piazza Duomo in Acireale, Sicily. The original parish church was built between 1597 and 1618 and was greatly enlarged after it received relics of Saint Venera, one of the city's two patron saints. It survived the earthquake of 1693. It became the seat of the Bishop of Acireale in 1870 and a minor basilica in 1957.
Placido Blandamonte of Messina made the Baroque portal depicting the Annunciation in 1668. Giovan Battista Filippo Basile designed the Neo-Gothic west front, which was completed after his death, following his plans of around 1900.
Two Mannerist campaniles have octagonal bases. The south one and the cupola date from 1655, and the north one and the rose window date from 1890.
