Abeno Harukas in Osaka was developed by Kintetsu. César Pelli & Associates supervised the exterior design, and Takenaka Corporation also worked on it. Construction began on January 9, 2010, and the tower opened on March 7, 2014. It rises 984 feet (300 m), with 60 floors above ground and five below, and about 2.28 million square feet (211,900 sq m) of floor area. The project cost 76 billion yen. It was the tallest building in Japan from 2014 until 2023, when the Azabudai Hills Mori JP Tower surpassed it.

The name comes from an old Japanese word, harukasu, meaning to brighten or clear up.

A department store fills the lower floors. Offices occupy the middle floors, and the Osaka Marriott Miyako Hotel sits above them. A museum and rooftop garden are on the 16th floor, and the Harukas 300 observatory occupies the 58th to 60th floors. Osaka Abenobashi Station is inside the base.
